WHERE CAN I FIND MY COMMITTEE ASSIGNMENT ?
Committee assignments are released toward the end of the registration period (late January to early February). This gives delegates plenty of time to research and prepare before the conference. Assignments will be sent directly to the email address used during registration.
WHAT IS MODEL UNITED NATIONS (MUN) ?
Model United Nations (MUN) is a simulation of the United Nations where students take on the roles of world leaders and diplomats. Over three days, delegates debate global issues both past and present while representing the perspectives of their assigned country or character.
Before the conference, schools receive their committee and country/character assignments. Delegates prepare by researching their committee topics, learning about their assigned role, and reviewing the Background Guide provided by their Dias. At the conference, they use this preparation to debate, collaborate, and draft resolutions to address the issues at hand.
HOW MANY AWARDS ARE THERE PER COMMITTEE ?
Each committee will present at least four awards: Best Delegate, Outstanding Delegate, one to three Honourable Mentions, and Best Position Paper. Depending on the committee size, Directors may choose to award additional Honourable Mentions.
WHAT ARE THE CRITERIA FOR WINNING AWARDS ?
Committee Directors/Chairs are responsible for selecting award recipients. While they have some discretion, their decisions are guided by a set rubric. Delegates are evaluated on several key factors: the quality of their contributions to debate, depth of knowledge on the topic, adherence to rules of procedure, strength of resolution or directive drafting, and overall composure.
WHAT IS THE DRESS CODE ?
For MUN, the dress code is business attire. Delegates are encouraged to wear professional clothing, which can include suits, blazers, dress shirts, ties, skirts, dresses, and dress shoes. The key is to look polished and professional while staying comfortable throughout the conference.
